University: FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg

Program: MSc Information and Communication Technology

Letter of Motivation

I'm XYZ and I have recently graduated in ABC from University, a renowned university of Pakistan. I am interested in Masters in Information and Communication Technology from FAU Erlangen Nürnberg, Germany, with the main research field being Network and Digital Communication. ICT combines the most important areas of electrical engineering, electronics, and communications engineering as well as computer science.

My early preoccupation with electrical technologies and analytical subjects persuade me to go with Electrical (Telecommunication) Engineering. As I am a self-taught personality, and I started at a very early age with transmitters, receivers, cellular networks, antennas, dishes, RRU's, computer systems. To accomplish the end, I finally enrolled in my Bachelor's studies. It was started as a passion of mine.As time passed the undergraduate syllabus in Electrical Engineering introduced me to a wide range of technical subjects like RF and Microwave Engineering, Wave Propagation and Antennas, Digital Signal Processing, Computer Communication Networks, Digital Communication, Wireless and Mobile Communication and Satellite Engineering. Studying these subjects in my graduation kept my curiosity and brought just as many new questions to me as it has answered. My final year project was based on electronics and communication in which I had worked on the neural network of the brain and detected electrical impulses from the brain by using an electrode-based headset and then used this data for many purposes like to make an anti-snooze system by detecting the alertness and meditation level of the brain. My semester projects cleared my vision and I developed the strong desire to apply for Information and Communication Technology degree in my master's program. To learn more and improve my knowledge I also joined an internship in "Automation" during my semester vacations and I have also polished my skills during the internship of "Advance Embedded Systems" where I learnt about the ARM Cortex Architecture and RISC V, Major Communication Protocols like I2C, USART, SPI, CAN, Ethernet, and USB and their Architectures, Database, IOT System, and Local and Global Server development. Later on, I have started an additional course on "Introduction of Internet of Things and Embedded Systems". My research paper on "A Compact Size Dual-Band Monopole Antenna Design for loT Applications" is accepted in a conference "1st International Conference on Microwave, Antennas & Circuits (ICMAC 2021)" and under proceeding.

I look forward to enrolling in your program as it gives students access to a wide range of scientific methods of communication and signal processing, optical communication, wireless sensor networks, and fast transmission technologies including research-led industry technologies to achieve a key position in a professional sector or postgraduate research. I will consider myself fortunate to be a part of this program because in this course I have a chance to learn about the complex challenges of design and development that network and communication engineers are facing today. Another reason that l opting this program is it offers the knowledge of Information and Communication Technology and especially in network and digital communication as well as methodical and personal skills for a specific career orientation in the latest research and development of new and complex hardware and software. The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Media Technology relates strongly to the research activities of the university to train engineering skills using practical examples, which will enable me to learn that how 5G and LTE communication systems can be used for developing new technological solutions for my home country. For instance, LIFI is a great development in terms of enhancing an effective and attractive speed of the vast Giga Bite of data transmission. So, I'm keen to implement this technology using the speed of light.

I have chosen to pursue graduate studies at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg because of my absolute interest in Network and Digital Communication which has developed over time during my academic years. I'm particularly motivated for 'Communication Techniques', 'Wireless Communication', 'Networking', 'LiFi Technology' and 'Radio Technology. While going through the curriculum of the program. I found various subjects in the catalog which tie in splendidly with my goals. Subjects like Advanced Communication Techniques, VLSI for Signal Processing, RF System Design, Digital Switching and Transmission, and Wireless Network are some of the courses that drive me towards the Information and Communication Technology program. Erlangen is a perfect city for this pursue as there are world-renowned companies situated there like Siemens Healthineers, Intel Corporation, Elektrobit, and Cisco Systems. Besides a high-class academic reputation, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is also in a collaboration with industries which makes this university an overall ideal place for me to study. Keeping all these factors into account, I believe that Information and Communication Technology at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg is a perfect suit to my goals of pursuing a career in research and development and indeed I will be honored to be a part of it.

Regards,

XYZ
